Chair of the Forum of Irish Postgraduate Medical Training Bodies

Mr Kenneth Mealy


Kenneth Mealy is a consultant general surgeon based in Wexford General Hospital and St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin. He is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin and his surgical training took place in Dublin and the UK. Mr Mealy was a Research Fellow in the Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School from 1987 – 1989. He has been Joint Lead of the National Clinical Programme in Surgery (2010 – 2019 and 2021 -current). He was instrumental in setting up the National Office of Clinical Audit (NOCA) in 2012 and is currently Chair of the NOCA Board. He has had a long interest in performance management and quality improvement in Surgery and has published widely on these and other surgical topics. He is the immediate past President of RCSI.

Staff

The Forum’s staff are based in the offices at 19 South Frederick Street, Dublin 2. The Forum employs two members of staff , Mr Jack O’Flanagan, Manager and Ms Sinead Kelly, Forum Executive and also contracts others on a consultancy basis to undertake specific projects.
